Palworld Map Guide: Regions, Fast Travel, Towers & Bosses

Before anything else, let us be plain about what this page is. This is a written guide to the Palworld map — the island of Palpagos, its regions, its fast-travel points and its boss locations — and it is not an interactive map itself. ToolZana does not host an interactive Palworld map, and nothing on this page will open one.

What it offers instead is a clear picture of how the world is laid out: regions and levels, fast-travel statues, and tower bosses. Players who want a clickable palworld interactive map usually turn to community-run map sites.

How to read the map

Palworld takes place on the Palpagos Islands. The map is a ladder: grassland in the south, then forests, a volcano, a desert and frozen mountains. Regions below follow the order the game expects, with community level ranges as guidance, not hard gates.

The map starts covered in fog, revealed as you explore; Watchtowers reveal the area around them.

The Palworld map, region by region

The starter islands (levels 1–10)

Your first steps happen on the southern fringe: the Eastern Wild Island, Forgotten Island, Ice Wind Island, Marsh Island and the Sea Breeze Archipelago. All hold level 1–10 Pals. The Sea Breeze Archipelago is good for early Water-type Pals; Marsh Island shows a pretty island can still be dangerous, with Poison-type Pals.

Windswept Hills (levels 1–15)

Windswept Hills is the real starting region and the best place for your first base: temperate grassland in the south, home to the Plateau of Beginnings, the Small Settlement and the first tower boss. Wild Pals run from level 1 to about 15, with wood, stone, Paldium and early ore nearby. Settle here: the level range is wider and the route north is shorter.

The central belt (levels 10–30)

North of the starting hills lies a forested middle belt. The Bamboo Groves (10–20) cover the centre of the island in dense bamboo, with a wide mix of Pal types. The Twilight Dunes (10–20) hold the giant Anubis statue — an Alpha boss fight for much later. The Moonless Shore (15–20) to the west is quieter, with fewer dungeons but plenty of Pals. Past this belt, the Verdant Brook (20–30) and the Frostbound Mountains (20–30) bridge the gap to the harsh biomes.

Mount Obsidian (levels 30–40)

Mount Obsidian dominates the south-west: an active volcano of lava, black rock and Fire-type Pals, and the first true climate hazard — without heat-resistant gear, the heat wears your health down. The payoff is quartz, ore, high-level Fire Pals and the Volcanic Cavern dungeons. Bring Water or Ice Pals; leave the Grass types at base.

Dessicated Desert (levels 40–50)

The Dessicated Desert fills the north-east of the main island with sand, sun and high-level Ground-type Pals. Hot by day, cold at night — pack both protections. It holds the Cavern of the Dunes dungeons and a tower boss, and Duneshelter hides in its dunes. Ground types dominate, so bring Water-type partners.

Astral Mountains and the Land of Absolute Zero (levels 35–50)

The far north belongs to the Astral Mountains, a snowy range of Ice-type Pals overlooking the World Tree. The cold here is the harshest on the mainland — cold-weather clothing is not optional. The mountains hold the Sacred Mountain Cavern dungeons and a tower boss, and their frozen lake is home to Frostallion, a level 60 Alpha, east of the Land of Absolute Zero fast-travel point. That far-northern pocket is the coldest zone in the game (levels 45+).

Sakurajima (levels 50–55)

Sakurajima is a separate island just off the north-west coast: cherry blossoms, Japanese-style buildings and shrines, with desert at both ends. Built for levels 50–55, it holds the Moonflower Tower, the Cherry Blossom Cave dungeon, and crude oil. Reach it by swimming or flying from the north-west coast.

Feybreak Island (levels 55–60)

Feybreak Island, far to the south-west, is the toughest region on the main map (55–60): beaches, forests and ruins, home to the Feybreak Tower, the Feybreak Cavern dungeons and Hexolite Quartz. Clearing its tower opens the way to Sunreach and the World Tree. Do not sail here early — the wild Pals alone will end the trip.

Fast travel on the Palworld map

Fast travel runs through Great Eagle Statues — orange on your map until unlocked, blue once you have. Walk up and interact: the point joins your network permanently, and you earn a Technology Point.

Once unlocked, you can travel to a statue from any other unlocked statue or from your base’s Palbox — open the map, pick the destination, and you arrive instantly. Travel is free, unlimited, and works even in combat — a genuine escape option. Activate every statue you pass, even when you do not need it yet; Watchtowers work the same way, and beaten tower bosses unlock their towers too.

Tower bosses

The towers are the game’s main story beats: huge structures, each controlled by a faction and guarded by a leader fighting alongside a powerful Pal. Each fight has a five-minute timer, so burst damage and the right counter matter. The five below are in difficulty order.

1. Zoe & Grizzbolt — Tower of the Rayne Syndicate (level 10)

The first tower stands in Windswept Hills, north-east of the Small Settlement. Zoe fights with Grizzbolt, an Electric Pal whose weakness is Ground, so Ground-type Pals such as Rushoar are the counter. It is very beatable at level 10–15 with a modest team.

2. Lily & Lyleen — Tower of the Free Pal Alliance (level 20)

The second tower sits north of the Small Settlement, at the edge of the Bamboo Groves. Lily fights with Lyleen, a Grass-type Pal whose weakness is Fire — bring your strongest Fire Pals; expect a harder fight than Zoe. Pack cold protection.

3. Marcus & Faleris — Tower of the PIDF (level 40)

The next tower is the Tower of the PIDF in the Dessicated Desert. Marcus fights with Faleris, a Fire-type Pal whose weakness is Water, so Water Pals are the counter. The desert is part of the challenge: heat by day, cold at night. Arrive at level 40 or above, with heat gear and a Water team.

4. Victor & Shadowbeak — Tower of the PAL Genetic Research Unit (level 50)

The fourth tower stands in the Astral Mountains in the far north, and Victor’s partner Shadowbeak is a Dark-type Pal whose weakness is Dragon. This is the last tower on the mainland and the hardest of the original set.

5. Saya & Selyne — Moonflower Tower (level 55)

The final tower here is the Moonflower Tower at the centre of Sakurajima, where Saya fights with Selyne, a Dark and Neutral Pal whose weakness is Dragon. Reaching it means crossing open water and fighting through level 50–55 wild Pals, so treat it as a late-game expedition.

One honest note: a tower sits between Lily and Marcus that this guide does not cover in detail — Axel & Orserk at the Eternal Pyre Tower on Mount Obsidian, a level 30 fight weak to Ice and Ground. Beyond Saya: Feybreak (Bjorn & Bastigor, 60), Sunreach (Auri & Shaolong, 68), World Tree (Zenara & Astralym, 80).

Alpha Pals

Alpha Pals are the overworld bosses of Palworld: larger, stronger versions of ordinary Pals standing at fixed spots in the open world, marked on your map once discovered. They hit much harder than regular Pals, carry a boss loot table, and defeating one earns Ancient Technology Points. Defeated Alphas respawn later, so you can farm or capture them on a second attempt.

Early examples: Alpha Chillet (11), south-west of the Fort Ruins in Windswept Hills; Alpha Kingpaca (23), north-west of the Small Settlement; Alpha Mammorest (38), east of the Grassy Behemoth Hills — a famous trap for new players. Alpha Gumoss (11) is in the Sea Breeze Archipelago, Alpha Penking (15) in the Sealed Realm of the Frozen Wings. A strong Alpha is an excellent breeding parent — see the Palworld breeding guide and the Palworld breeding calculator.

Dungeons

Dungeons are instanced caves hidden in cliff faces, each with a suggested level, a timer of roughly five hours, and an Alpha Pal boss at the end. The timer only governs entry: once it ends the dungeon closes and reopens nearby, but you are not kicked out if already inside.

Inside, a dungeon is a small network of rooms around a central hub, with treasure chests, rare Pals and hostile Syndicate members. The boss is a larger version of a local Pal, and beating it opens the chest room by the exit teleporter — schematics, skill fruits and accessories. Each region has its own dungeon type, from the Hillside Cavern (13) in Windswept Hills and the Isolated Island Cavern (13) on the starter islands to the Sacred Mountain Cavern (45) in the Astral Mountains and the Feybreak Cavern (55) on Feybreak Island.

Your first route across the map

Start in Windswept Hills: base near the Plateau of Beginnings or the Small Settlement and catch low-level Pals. Try Alpha Chillet around level 11 — a good first boss test near the Fort Ruins.

From there, head north-east to beat Zoe & Grizzbolt, then push into the Bamboo Groves and Moonless Shore toward level 20 for Lily & Lyleen. After Lily, get heat gear and head south-west to Mount Obsidian (level 30 tower), then north-east to the desert for Marcus & Faleris, then north to the Astral Mountains for Victor & Shadowbeak. Then sail north-west to Sakurajima for Saya & Selyne, then consider Feybreak. You can swim between islands, but stamina drains fast — catch a swimming or flying Pal mount first. For what to do with the Pals you catch, see the Palworld breeding guide and Palworld breeding calculator on ToolZana.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Palworld interactive map on ToolZana?

No. ToolZana does not host an interactive Palworld map — this page is a written guide to the regions, fast-travel points and bosses. Pocketpair has not released an official interactive map either, so the clickable maps players use are community-run sites built from player data.

What does the Palworld full map include?

The base map covers roughly 16 square kilometres: the main island of Palpagos ringed by smaller islands, plus Sakurajima, Feybreak Island, and in 1.0 the Sunreach sky islands and the World Tree. Each area suits a higher level range than the last.

What level should I be for each part of the Palworld map?

As a rough ladder: starter islands 1–10, Windswept Hills 1–15, Bamboo Groves and Twilight Dunes 10–20, Moonless Shore 15–20, Verdant Brook and Frostbound Mountains 20–30, Mount Obsidian 30–40, Astral Mountains 35–50, Dessicated Desert 40–50, Sakurajima 50–55, Feybreak 55–60. Community recommendations, not hard gates.

How big is the Pal world map?

The base map is roughly 16 square kilometres: one large island, Palpagos, ringed by smaller islands. Sakurajima, Feybreak Island, Sunreach and the World Tree were added after launch, so the full world is larger than the original map.

Where are the Palworld best base locations?

Start on the Plateau of Beginnings in Windswept Hills, with wood, stone and Paldium close by. For early ore, move to Golden Hills or west of Fort Ruins. The best all-round hub is a peak in Verdant Brook holding ore, coal and wood in one base radius. Late game: Sakurajima Oil Fields for crude oil, Mount Obsidian for sulfur, Feybreak for Hexolite Quartz.

Where are the Palworld dungeon locations?

Each region has its own dungeon type: Hillside Cavern (13) in Windswept Hills; Isolated Island Cavern (13) on the starter islands; Ravine Grotto in the Bamboo Groves; Mountain Stream Grotto in Moonless Shore and Verdant Brook; Volcanic Cavern on Mount Obsidian; Cavern of the Dunes in the desert; Sacred Mountain Cavern (45) in the Astral Mountains; Cherry Blossom Cave on Sakurajima; Feybreak Cavern (55) on Feybreak.

Where are the Palworld predator Pal locations?

In the current 1.0 version, Predator Pals have no fixed locations: stronger ‘Rampaging’ versions of ordinary Pals appear rarely anywhere, in place of a normal Pal. Look for the red glow and the ‘Rampaging’ name. They cannot be captured, and defeating one drops Predator Cores. Older fixed-spot lists describe the pre-1.0 game.

Is Feybreak Island Palworld’s toughest region?

On the main map, yes. Feybreak Island (55–60) has the toughest wild Pals, the Feybreak Tower and the level 55 Feybreak Cavern dungeons. Sunreach (60–68) and the World Tree (70–80) are harder still, but reached only after Feybreak.

Where do I find Jellroy in Palworld?

Jellroy is a Water and Dark Pal found on Phantom Isle, a small island north-west of Mount Obsidian; in 1.0 it also appears at night along many coastal beaches. Its Partner Skill increases items gained from ocean salvage. Bring Electric and Dragon Pals — Jellroy is weak to both.

How do I unlock fast travel on the Palworld map?

Walk up to a Great Eagle Statue and interact with it. Orange statues are not yet unlocked; once you activate one it turns blue, stays unlocked permanently, and earns you a Technology Point. Travel to it from any unlocked statue or a base Palbox.
